Course Options

  • 60 Day Course - January 9th, 2023 thru March 4th, 2023

    • Attendance - Monday thru Friday (10am to 6pm) Saturday (10am to 2pm)

    • Multiple instructors

    • This course will be limited to a class of 10 to ensure every student gets the attention and repetition needed

    • There will be a course test followed by scheduled certification test at the end of the 8 weeks

 

  • Weekends Only Course January 13th, 2023 thru March 5th, 2023

    • Attendance - Friday (530pm to 930pm) Saturday (10am to 6pm) Sunday (10am to 4pm) for 8 consecutive weekends

    • Condensed course

    • The number of attendees for this course is based on available space

 

The following items are included for both above options:

  • Room and Board

  • Transportation

    • To and from working/training field

    • There will be allotted times to take you to local stores

    • There will be a course test followed by a scheduled certification test at the end of the 8 weekends.

 

Rules for Program

  • Must have own Decoy Suit

  • Dogs

    • Only 1 dog is allowed per person

    • Must be crate trained

    • Bring your own crate for your dog

60 Day Program - $8500

Monday thru Saturday

Week 1 - Instructor - Tai Nero

  • Engagement/Catching a Dog

    • Properly getting yourself into position and a rhythm before, during, and after the catch for a safe and coordinated engagement/catch

  • Reading a Dog

    • Understanding the dog's body language and intent before the grip. Learning how to gauge their commitment

    • Learning how to direct the dog to your desired target. Keeping yourself and the dog safe by understanding how to read their direction before they move in that direction

    • Watching the dog’s eyes and head position and what they mean

Week 2 - Instructor - Bill Hollinger/Tai Nero

  • Working Legs Body Positioning

    • Learning where to position your feet and hands both before and after the catch.

  • Body Posture

    • Learning how to move your waist, bend your knees, and how to use your entire body to direct and maneuver the dog

  • Activating your Body

    • Learning how to counter balance yourself with the dog, using your body, and opposing muscles to work with you

    • Anchoring your position, but also learning how to properly pivot and rotate your body (waist, legs, knees, arms, and shoulder) before and after the catch.

    • Using your entire body to work as a unit

  • Setting the Grip

    • Using your body, arms, and hands positioning, timing, foot, and leg placement to lock the dog into their grip

 

Week 3 - Instructor - Tai Nero

  • Movement and Going into Motion

    • Pivoting body

    • Walking backwards

    • Hand placement

    • Squatting

    • Using your knees

  • Different styles of catching dogs

 

Week 4 - Instructor - Joseph Secreti

  • Schutzhund Sleeve (Hard Sleeve)

    • Learn how to present and position a sleeve

    • Learn how to use and catch with right and left sleeves

    • Learn coordination, body positioning and how to drive a dog (skip drive and run drive)          

 

Week 5 - Instructor - Jeremey Sebree

  • Short Sends

    • Applying techniques learned in weeks one and two

    • Different ways to work dogs after catching them

 

Week 6 - Instructor - Dale Anderson

  • Techniques

    • Applying pressure

    • Using distractions

    • Restricting the dog

    • Identifying whether a dog is comfortable or not

 

Week 7 - Instructor - Evan Griggs

  • Techniques

    • Displaying Presence without yelling

    • Being passive and still having Presence

    • Taking away prey

    • Different ways to work dogs after catching them

 

Week 8 - Preparing for Test and Certifications

Weekend 1 Basics

  • Engagement/Catching a dog
